It happened in the Windham County town of Killingly at about 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, Connecticut State Police said.
A 2016 Hyundai Accent GLS was traveling west on Westcott Road near the intersection with Mashentuck Road when it crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer, police said.
The passenger in the Chevrolet, identified as Windham County resident Bonilyn Smith, of Danielson, was killed in the crash, authorities said.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 25-year-old woman from Brooklyn, Connecticut, suffered suspected minor injuries, and the driver of the Hyundai, a 22-year-old Danielson woman, suffered suspected serious injuries, police said.
Authorities said both vehicles were severely damaged in the crash.
